Hello! My name is Amina and I lived in Perth. I’m going into my second year in theKinesiology program in the faculty of Health Sciences.
ALL ABOUT PERTH

WAS THIS ONE OF YOUR TOP CHOICES?
Yes, it was my second choice

STYLE OF BUILDING: HYBRID
-
More space
-
If you are in a double room, there’s one bathroom for 4 people (including yourself)
-
If you are in a single room, there’s one bathroom for 2 people (including yourself)
-
If you are in a double room, there's a wall that kind of separates the room in two, and you can’t see your roommate while sleeping. This is nice for privacy
-
Many people find it easier to study as the room is bigger and there is more space
PROS
-
Further from campus compared to other residences
-
Hybrid style is not as outgoing as traditional style buildings
CONS

PERTH PROS AND CONS
-
Has a gym
-
Has a basketball court
-
Has a very nice lounge
-
Has a study lounge. This is nice if you get too lazy to walk to a building to study, or if your roommate is making too much noise in the room causing you to not be able to study
-
Has a very nice cafeteria with great late night snacks
-
Perth is right next to essex and Ohall, which is nice because you meet people from other halls pretty easily
-
Perth is right next to 7 eleven which is open 24/7
-
Perth is right next to a pharmacy and a bookstore
-
Perth is right next to subway and barakat (shawarma place)
-
Its a smaller building compared to other buildings, which means that by the end of the year, there’s a big chance you know everyone, which is nice
-
Perth is a 5 min walk from the ivey building and the engineering building, which are great study spots
-
Perth is a 2 minute walk from the rec center (the gym)
PROS
-
A little far from campus compared to other halls but it’s not bad
-
Can be a little too quiet sometimes (which isn’t a con for everyone)
CONS

HOW DID YOU FIND OTHER PEOPLE IN THE BUILDING?
Everyone was super nice. The best part about Perth is you had a mix of everything. Some people were really quiet, others liked to party, some were really sporty … People were really easy to approach and by the end of the year, you may almost know everyone because its a smaller building compared to other buildings
FAVOURITE SPOTS IN REZ
-
The Student Lounge on the second floor: I love that spot because it has a ping pong and pool table, and it’s where I met a lot of my friends. It’s an easy way to meet people and have fun at the same time.
FAVOURITE EXPERIENCES IN REZ
-
All the late night mcds meals that we would have in the second floor lounge with a big group of people
-
All the ping pong games we would play with essex people
-
The fun floor meetings
FINAL WORDS OF WISDOM
Perth is basically the place to be.
